How’s your luck? Texas lottery jackpot of $44 million remains largest in North America
Are you feelin’ lucky?
If so, an estimated $44 million is on the line Wednesday for the Lotto Texas jackpot, which remains the largest lottery prize currently available in North America and the third highest in the word.
“Jackpots this large generate a lot of excitement, so I want to remind our players to play responsibly,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission, in a Wednesday news release. “It only takes one ticket to win.”
Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:20 p.m. A player picks six numbers from 1 to 54.
The largest Lotto Texas jackpot was a $145 million prize picked on June 19, 2004, in El Paso. The last time the game had a jackpot winner of more than $30 million was on May 16, 2018, when a Houston resident claimed a $30.25 million prize after purchasing a ticket at MJ’s All Season Food Store in Houston.
In 2020, there has been only one Lotto Texas winner. A Laredo resident claimed a jackpot of $17.5 million held on Jan. 15, 2020.
