Husband dies of heart attack while telling wife he had been carjacked, Texas police say

A 73-year-old man died of a heart attack minutes after he was carjacked near his home, Texas police say.

The man had just left for work early Friday morning when another a vehicle pulled up beside him at an intersection in his subdivision in the north Houston area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Two men forced him out of a black 2016 Nissan Juke, stole the vehicle and drove away, police say.

He then ran back to his house to report the crime. As the man was telling his wife about the carjacking, he started to feel ill and suffered a heart attack, police say. He died in the home.

“It’s a 73-year-old man going to work like he does every day,” a sheriff’s office spokesman said in a news conference at the scene. “It’s a senseless thing that happened.”

The man’s death could be linked to criminal charges if investigators can determine the carjacking caused his heart attack, police say.

For now, police are looking for helping finding the suspects and their vehicle because they have limited information following the death of the key witness.
