Watch as intense fire fills the night sky with dark, heavy smoke in Fort Worth area

An intense fire at a Grand Prairie, Texas, plastics manufacturing plant filled the night sky with dark, heavy smoke.

The fire continued as night turned to day. Grand Prairie Assistant Fire Chief Bill Murphy told the Star-Telegram the fire at Poly-America will be “burning for hours” and likely into Thursday.

In the video shot by Timothy Milfeld around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday and obtained by Storyful, the fire can be seen in the distance. Milfield said flashes of light were from power lines being burned through and snapping.

Possibly caused by a collapsed power line, the fire started around midnight, the Star-Telegram reported.

Grand Prairie is located about 20 miles away from Fort Worth. Smoke could be seen for many miles throughout North Texas.
