Tree service worker seen on video yelling racial slurs at black man arrested in Texas

A tree service worker seen in a viral video yelling a racial slur at a black man in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Texas was arrested, police say.

Devonta Brown was at the fast-food restaurant in McKinney, about 60 miles northeast of Fort Worth, when he says a man in a truck with a trailer cut him off and nearly hit his car. Brown got out of his vehicle and began filming after the man called him a racial slur, he says in a Facebook post on June 1.

A series of videos on Brown’s Facebook page show a logo for Chris Taylor Tree Service on the truck. The man exits the truck, rips off his shirt, quickly approaches Brown and the camera shakes. That’s when Brown accuses the man of head-butting and spitting on him.

The man then calls the police on Brown.

“Just trying to make it home to my wife is a challenge every day,” Brown told WFAA. (Enough) is enough.”

Police arrested the driver identified as Christopher Taylor, the news outlet reported.

Taylor, 51, was charged with assault, records show.

Attempts by McClatchy News to reach Taylor by phone at a number listed on the tree service truck were unsuccessful.
