Man shot in face drives himself, injured passenger to hospital, Texas police say
A shooting left one man dead and another injured in Houston early Tuesday, police say.
The pickup truck they were in was riddled with bullets when the driver — who was shot in the face — pulled up to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston around 4:40 a.m. with a passenger who had also been shot, KHOU reported.
Both men were estimated to be in their mid-20s or early-30s, according to the outlet.
Houston police say the passenger died but the driver is expected to survive, according to KTRK.
“I just know that he came in and informed the hospital staff and maybe the security guard, I’m not sure which one, that they needed help and got them in there as quickly as they could,” Det. Ken Fregia told KPRC.
Houston police believe the men were shot while they were inside the truck, citing a number of bullet holes on the side of the vehicle, according to KTRK.
Officials are trying to determine where the shooting occurred, KPRC reported. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS.
