Wanted man forced teens to have sex at gunpoint, then raped one of them, Texas cops say
A wanted man is accused of forcing teenagers to have sex at gunpoint before raping one of them in Houston, media outlets report.
He was deported just before investigators could arrest him, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Evelio Espinoza-Erazo, 32, is wanted on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in June 2018, according to Houston Crime Stoppers.
The two teenagers were eating in a car at a park when Espinoza-Erazo approached them with a gun, KTRK reported. He drove them to another area, where he forced them to have sex at gunpoint in some brush and raped the 16-year-old girl, the Houston TV reported.
When Espinoza-Erazo put the gun down during the assault, the victim grabbed it and pointed it at him, and he ran into the woods, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Espinoza-Erazo was deported to Honduras in August 2019 — two weeks after cops received DNA test results that identified him as the suspect, the Houston Chronicle reported.
However, the charges weren’t filed for several months, “leaving uncertainty about whether officials tasked with deporting him knew he was suspected in the case,” the newspaper reported.
He was charged in December 2019, officials said.
Houston Crime Stoppers released his photo and information about the charges on Monday. Espinoza-Erazo is described as a Hispanic man who is about 5-feet-4-inches tall and 160 pounds with brown eyes and hair, officials said.
Anyone with information leading to his arrest could be paid up to $5,000.
