Texas man caught on Facebook video hanging puppy from tree ‘out of boredom,’ cops say

A Texas man is accused of hanging a small puppy from a tree, killing the dog, police say.

The 21-year-old told cops that he did it “out of boredom.”

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office first learned of the puppy’s death when a concerned resident called Wednesday to report that he saw the hanging in a Facebook video, according to a news release.

Investigators watched the video showing the man hanging the small puppy by its neck from a tree, resulting in the dog’s death, police said.

In a statement, the man told investigators that the puppy didn’t belong to him and admitted to hanging the dog out of boredom, police said.

Claudio Gomez was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.

Hidalgo County is in south Texas bordering Mexico.
