‘You ready to party with Jesus?’ Texas man texted ex-girlfriend before killing her
Before he killed his ex-girlfriend at her birthday party on Christmas Eve, Albert Benjamin Simon sent her a text, asking, “you ready to party with Jesus tonight?” according to KBMT.
Simon, 52, also texted a photo of himself and Jesus, the TV station reported.
Later that evening, he crashed Carolee Dawn Taylor’s birthday party in Houston, forced her outside onto the home’s front porch and shot her multiple times, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. Taylor, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies told KHOU11.
“I went to this scene last night and couldn’t help but think that her final moments were spent happy celebrating her birthday with friends,” Gonzalez tweeted Christmas Day. “She wore holiday festive attire. Simon brutally gunned her down. Domestic Violence is a serious epidemic. “
Simon was on the run before he was spotted in Hermann Park by Harris County Sheriff deputies on Dec. 28. After ignoring commands from authorities, he was shot and killed by deputies, Gonzalez said in a press conference.
Simon made a “quick move” toward a backpack he was carrying and began to run.
Deputies fired, hitting Simon multiple times and he was taken to the hospital where he was “pronounced dead at 3:38 p.m.,” Gonzalez said.
Family and friends held a vigil in Taylor’s honor at Cleveland Park, located at 200 Jackson Hill St., “because she loved visiting this park with her dog. May she Rest In Peace,” Gonzalez tweeted.
