Teen sisters die when log truck hits car in front of their Texas high school, cops say

Two teenage sisters died when the car they were riding in turned in front of a log truck outside their Texas high school, police say.

Shantey and Adryanna Hawkins were riding in the car with their mom Saturday when she tried to pull into the parking lot of Linden-Kildare High School in Linden, Texas, KSLA reported.

Then a log truck crashed into their vehicle on Highway 125 in the small town about 150 miles east of Dallas, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Shantey was a sophomore and Adryanna was a freshman at the high school, police said.

Their mom survived the crash, but she remained hospitalized as of Sunday, police said.

The Linden-Kildare school district provided counselors to help students, according to a Facebook post.

“Our hearts are grieving for these students and their families,” the school district wrote. “Please join us in keeping them at the forefront of our thoughts and prayers as we all attempt to cope with this sudden and tragic loss.”
