A 10-day-old girl died Thursday night after spending most of the day in the hospital, authorities say.

Piper Burkhalter was reported to Cleburne police as unresponsive shortly after 7 a.m., police said.

The incident happened in the 1000 block of N. Robinson Street.

She was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, police said.

Piper was pronounced deceased shortly before 9 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.

“The Cleburne Police Department is continuing investigation of this tragic incident,” police said in a news release.

Police did not immediately provide additional details.
