One student wounded in Texas high school shooting, suspect in custody
A 15-year-old female student was shot Monday morning at Italy High School and a suspect was arrested, according to local news media.
Officials with the Ellis County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Facebook that the suspect was taken into custody.
Police, deputies, firefighters and troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety rushed to the school Monday morning after the shooting was reported. Italy is in Ellis County about 60 miles southeast of Fort Worth.
The girl was taken by air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, but authorities did not release any other details.
Students under guard were being moved as the investigation continued Monday.
A 16-year-old male student was detained by authorities without incident.
