Galveston man set on fire by former girlfriend, police say
Video surveillance obtained by ABC-affiliate KTRK in Houston shows the moments after a man was set on fire by a woman in Galveston on Tuesday morning.
The Galveston Police Department reported that the male victim and the female suspect had previously been in a relationship.
According to Chron.com, the incident occurred just before 6 a.m., when a man called 911 to report that he had been lit on fire in the 500 block of 21st Street.
When the Galveston EMS and Fire Department arrived to the location, the man's clothing was still on fire and first responders had to quickly put out the flames. The man was rushed to a local hospital and was treated with burns to his hands and face. Police said the injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
KTRK reported that the female suspect has not been identified at this time; police expect to charge her with aggravated assault.
