Two teens arrested in Denton suspected in multiple armed delivery driver holdups
Two teens suspected of robbing several pizza delivery drivers at gunpoint and then stealing their vehicles were arrested on Tuesday.
The two have been connected to three armed robberies since Oct. 20 near Fort Worth Drive and Roselawn Drive, and in two of those cases the teens are suspected of taking the victim’s vehicles, according to a news release from the Denton Police Department.
Rolando Olvera, 18, is facing an aggravated robbery charge and a second charge is pending, the release said. Victor Chairez, 17, is also facing an aggravated robbery charge, with a second aggravated robbery charge pending, an evading arrest charge and one charge of tampering with identification numbers, according to the release.
On Tuesday, Denton police attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle and the suspects attempted to flee, the release said. After the vehicle was stopped one suspect was taken into custody. A second suspect was arrested not long after, the release said.
After the arrest investigators recovered several stolen items and have linked Olvera and Chairez to four burglaries, the release said.
During a robbery on Oct. 20, a cellphone, two iPods and a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer valued at $5,000 were taken, according to a statement from Daniel S. Kizer, Denton police spokesman. And during a robbery on Oct. 30, a wallet and $20 and a bank bag with $20, an iPhone7 and a Hyundai Santa Fe were taken, Kizer said.
