What-a-surprise? Whataburger wins over New York firefighter helping Harvey victims
What happens when you introduce a firefighter from the Big Apple to a big Texas favorite — the Whataburger?
A big thumbs up.
“These Texas guys want to tell me that this is the burger - this is the official Texas burger,” remarked Thomas Carrera, a disbelieving New York City fire lieutenant in the state helping with Hurricane Harvey efforts. “I don’t think so but we’re going to see right now.”
A now viral video, shared on social media Saturday by Whataburger, captures Carrera’s first impressions.
From his amazement at the burger’s size: “It’s a double? Ahhh. Everything’s big in Texas, right?”
To his first bite, “Mmmmm. That is a good burger. Mustard? Unbelievable. Wow.”
Just wait until he tries our salsa.
Whataburger had pledged nearly $2 million in Harvey recovery efforts, including a $150,000 donation to the Red Cross and half-a-million to food banks serving those impacted by the storm.
