Authorities searching for suspect in killing near Weatherford

Parker County authorities are searching for the suspect in the killing of a 25-year-old man Friday morning.

Deputies were called about 9 a.m. to the 200 block of Joyce Street, just north of Weatherford, where they found David Malone lying in the parking lot of a duplex with a gunshot wound to his stomach, according to a news release.

Malone was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he died about 12:30 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

A witness told deputies that the suspect, a white man in his 20s, had fled the scene on foot, heading east into a wooded area. The suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, the news release said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked contact Parker County Crime Stoppers at 817-599-5555 or the Parker County Sheriff’s Department at 817-594-8845. Crime Stoppers is offering $1,000 for a tip that leads to an arrest.
