Border agents seized 132 pounds of illegal Mexican bologna this week, officials announced Thursday.

The seizure was made about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the El Paso border crossing, according to a press release.

The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck initially told officers he wasn’t hauling any agriculture products. But during a secondary inspection of the truck, the driver admitted he was trying to bring 12 rolls of bologna into the country.

“The bologna is a prohibited product because it is made from pork and has the potential for introducing foreign animal diseases to the U.S. pork industry,” the press release said.

Agents sent the driver back to Mexico and burned the bologna.
