Taco truck on every corner initiative aims at getting the vote out
That crack from the “Latinos for Trump” founder warning about unchecked immigration leading to “taco trucks on every corner” has spurred a movement to do just that, for at least one day.
The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is organizing a campaign to put taco trucks on every corner (or as many polling sites as it can) on Election Day. Guac the Vote urges taco trucks to park outside polling places in all 50 states and the District of Columbia on Nov. 8.
Similarly, Houston designer Thomas Hull has teamed with Mi Familia Vota, a Latino advocacy group, to pull together a fleet of taco trucks to double as voter registration sites.

“We’re also handing out information on where to vote, with early votes and on Election Day and the process of voting ’cause that’s — registering folks to vote — is half the battle,” Hull told Houston Public Media.
Apparently, none of the taco trucks in Fort Worth have joined the effort so far, but the owners of Taco Heads said they’ve talked about doing something similar as soon as their truck is out of the shop.
“I’m not quite sure what we’re going to do, but we want to do something, and we want it to be something involving the truck,” owner Sarah Castillo said. She also noted that she has lived in New York “and the best part of it was the ethnic food carts on every corner.”
She wasn’t alone in that sentiment:

Dude, how's that a bad thing?
Salsa Limon owner Milo Ramirez said he hasn’t planned anything. “However, we are interested in increasing voter turnout.”
“Actually, that’s a great idea,” State Rep. Ramon Romero said of the taco truck voter initiative. “Anything that gets people out to vote is a good thing.”
Romero says his voter education and registration efforts have usually targeted barber shops and beauty salons in the past, “the places where we all go.”
Taco truck owners everywhere might soon be thanking Marco Gutierrez, the Latinos for Trump founder.
Marco Gutierrez has singlehandedly done more for Taco truck business than ANY amount of advertising could have done #TacoTrucksOnEveryCorner
