How do Trump’s endorsed candidates fare in Texas? Take a look at his track record
President Donald Trump made headlines ahead of the U.S. Senate Republican runoff when — after months of waiting — he named Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton as his endorsed candidate to represent Texas statewide in Washington over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn.
The president regularly endorses in Texas elections up and down the ballot, but what is the success rate? Here’s a look at Trump’s endorsements in Texas races going back to 2018 and how his picks fared.
But first, a note on methodology: The Star-Telegram reviewed lists of endorsements compiled on Ballotpedia as a starting point to know which candidates Trump has endorsed. We then verified the endorsements and election outcomes using sources like Trump’s social media posts, internet archives, news articles and the Texas Secretary of State.
For 2026, Trump has endorsed more than 100 Texas House and Senate members who voted in 2025 to approve school vouchers for reelection in 2026. We didn’t list them here.
