Polls continue to show a single-digit race between Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Colin Allred as the candidates prepare to debate Tuesday.

Cruz, who has represented Texas in the U.S. Senate since 2013, is four percentage points ahead of Allred, a former NFL player and civil rights lawyer, according to a new poll from the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston.

The poll of likely Texas voters has 50% intending to vote for Cruz, 46% intending to vote for Allred, 3% of respondents undecided in who they will vote for and 1% planning to vote for Libertarian Ted Brown.

The poll was conducted online and surveyed 1,329 likely Texas voters between Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 with a 2.69% margin of error.

Polling has shown a tight race between Cruz and Allred.

Earlier polls from the Hobby School and the Texas Southern University Jordan-Leland School had Cruz up by about two percentage points. Another from Morning Consult conducted in September had Allred up by one point.

As of Oct. 14, Cruz was ahead by 3.8 percentage points on average, according to 538.

The candidates are in the final stretch of their senate campaigns, with in-person early voting starting on Oct. 21 and running through Nov. 1.

Election Day is Nov. 5.
