Texas Sen. Ted Cruz Twitter-feuding with a muppet over the COVID-19 vaccine ... again
Ted Cruz is feuding with muppets again.
The senator from Texas complained in a Twitter post Monday that Elmo was promoting COVID-19 vaccines for children 5 and younger.
“Thanks, @sesamestreet for saying parents are allowed to have questions,” Cruz posted in a replay to the children’s Twitter feed. “You then have @elmo aggressively advocate for vaccinating children UNDER 5. But you cite ZERO scientific evidence for this.”
Sesame Street posted a video showing Elmo and his dad Louie talking about getting vaccinated earlier on Monday. A couple of hours later, Cruz responded, commending the program for acknowledging that it’s OK for parents to have questions about vaccines and their children, but also chided it for not including the medical science supporting the stance.
“It was a little pinch, but it was OK,” Elmo says in the clip, showing off the “super-duper bandage” on his arm.
“It’s OK to have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children,” Sesame Street posted with the video. “Elmo’s dad Louie talked to their pediatrician, and learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep him and his whole neighborhood safe and healthy!”
In November, Cruz attacked Big Bird on social media after the character promoted COVID vaccines.
“Government propaganda for your 5 year old,” Cruz posted at the time.
