Grapevine-Colleyville ISD school board voter guide for May 3 election
In just a few weeks, it’ll be time to head to the polls once more.
If you registered to vote by April 3, you can go to one of these locations for early voting from April 22-April 29. For Election Day voting on May 3, head to one of these polling places.
In Grapevine and Colleyville, voters will decide which of two candidates will fill Place 3 of the Grapevine-Colleyville School Board. Place 4 will be filled by Kathy Florence-Spradley, as she is running unopposed. The GCISD Board of Trustee Election for Places 5, 6 and 7 will be held in May 2026 with Places 1 and 2 up for election in May 2027. Each term lasts three years.
The Board of Trustees oversees the superintendent and manages the district with a $185 million budget. The board’s goal is to “to translate the needs of students into policies, plans and goals that will be supported by the community,” according to the website.

Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking office because we have done great work these past three years and there are more things to accomplish. I want to ensure that our students, teachers, community, and district continues to succeeds and thrive.
What are your top three policy priorities?
I stand for the Success of our Students, Support for our Teachers, and the Stewardship of our Taxpayer dollars. I make all decisions and votes regarding policies based on these and our district’s vision.
How will you measure your success as a Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustee?
I measure my success as a GCISD trustee based on the achievements of our students, teachers, and district. When they are succeeding, our community is succeeding. I’m proud of what our district is accomplishing.
Why should voters choose you over your opponent?
Voters know what they are getting with me. My record, leadership, and experience is out there for all to see. You always know where I stand.
What have your involvements been in the school district?
Glenhope Elementary -
PTA Vice-President; Raffle Chairman; Homeroom Mom; Cub Scout Leader
Crosstimbers Middle School -
President PTA, started fundraiser for kids to get banquet clothes for 8th grade banquets; 8th grade banquet Chairman (twice); Cheerleeding Booster Club Vice-President and President; Math Competition Chairman; CEC Committee Member; Middle School Mentor Program; Member of National Charity League (7) years where together we put in over 300 hours of volunteer work.
Grapevine High School -
Vice-President PTSA; PTSA President; Teacher Appreciation Chairman; Cheerleading Booster Club President; Started the GHS/CHHS Bingo; Football Booster Club Board Member; Started tailgate parties before Friday night football games. In charge of football program; Started “Project Graduation Retro Prom Party” for parents to raise money for project graduation in which the first time event raised over $60,000; Chaired the National Charity League banquet
How would you navigate the lack of increased state funding?
I will continue working diligently locally and with our reps and senators in Austin to fully fund our schools and to end Robinhood - which has taken over $1 billion from our GCISD taxpayers which could have been put into OUR schools.
How do you plan on improving teacher retention?
Working together with the other Trustees, I will focus on continuing to make GCISD the district teachers want to work in, bring more incentives, and look at creative options with our community to make living in the district affordable for our educators. In addition to this, I look forward to honoring our educators’ achievements and will continue to be an advocate for pay raises and bonuses. With a projected balanced budget, we will be able to do great things.

Why are you seeking this office?
I’m running because we owe a moral obligation to provide all of our students—every single one—a world class education. I’m running to eliminate distractions and to focus on solutions. Our students, educators, and tax payers deserve nothing less.
What are your top three policy priorities?
Recruiting and retaining high-caliber teachers. Reversing the deficit spending that has occurred since May of 2022. Repairing the reputational hits that have been inflicted since May of 2022.
How will you measure your success as a Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustee?
Whether high-quality teachers want to stay in the District, or whether they choose to leave.
Why should voters choose you over your opponent?
The skills, knowledge, and training that I’ve developed during my legal and business career uniquely qualify me to identify and pursue bold solutions. Financially, I will focus on wisely investing taxpayer resources. GCISD educators will always know that I have their backs.
What have your involvements been in the school district?
Dads Club President, Bond Advisory Committee, Council of PTA’s Legislative/Advocacy Chair, Youth Coach.
How would you navigate the lack of increased state funding?
I will navigate budgetary issues and financial decisions by applying the business and legal skillset that I have spent an entire career building. A clear-eyed and level-headed analysis will ensure that we invest in our students while being thoughtful stewards of public resources and taxpayer dollars. I will also be a firm advocate for our students by communicating with elected officials about the state’s duty to fully fund and defend public education.
How do you plan on improving teacher retention?
Paying them the professional respect and latitude that they have earned. Also, providing raises, which educators did not receive during this 2024-25 academic year.
