Two newcomers set to join the Arlington school board
Two newcomers are joining the Arlington school board.
Brooklyn Richardson won with 46.8% of the vote in Place 6, according to unofficial results on Saturday. Her challenger Robert Blake had 41.41%, and Sinsey Johnson had 11.79%.
Richardson is the Director of Youth and Children Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church and is a founding member of The River School, according to her website.
In Place 7, Leanne Haynes won with 36.05% of the vote. Corliss Bunkley had 21.32%, Bridgett Davis 18.47%, Kathi Arocha 14.3%, Hunter Crow has 5.56%, and Watson Robinson Jr. 4.29%, according to unofficial results.
“I’m extremely humbled and excited to get to serve. I’ve been working in the district for over a decade. Getting to see all of this come together and getting to step up to serve out district in this way is just super exciting,” said Haynes.
Haynes has served on parent-teacher organizations on five campuses in the district, she said.
Neither race had an incumbent.
