Houston and Belton area polls will be open until 8 p.m., delaying statewide results

Harris County District Judge Dawn Rogers signed an order to keep Harris County polls will stay open an extra hour, until 8 p.m., the Houston Chronicle reported.

The order follows a lawsuit filed by the Texas Organizing Project after multiple Harris County voting sites opened late Tuesday morning.

Polls will also open until 8 p.m. in Bell County, the county elections office announced. According to a Facebook post from the county, eight of the county’s 42 voting centers experienced delays Tuesday morning.

This will delay the results of statewide races.
