Incumbents win in Tarrant County congressional races. May runoffs expected for CD 30.
Incumbents won the day Tuesday with U.S. Reps. Marc Veasey and Kay Granger of Fort Worth easily defeating primary challengers.
With 98% of the polling locations reporting, Granger received 75.15% of the vote compared to 14.11% for Riverside Middle School principal Ryan Catala and 10.74% for emergency medical technician Alysia Rieg.
Granger will face Democrat Trey Hunt, who ran unopposed, in the Nov. 8 election.
Veasey received 75.63% of the vote in his primary against political activist Carlos Quintanilla, who ended up with 24.37%.
Veasey will face Republican Patrick Gillespie, an entry writer for UPS Supply Chain Solutions. Gillespie won his primary over business consultant Robert MacGlaflin with 66.66% of the vote.
Both Granger and Veasey were riding high in January when the U.S. Army Corps on Engineers announced it would allocate $403 million to build the 1.5 mile Panther Island canal. That funding was made possible by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which Granger voted against. She stood by the vote explaining at a press conference her vote was against the bill rather than the project.
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams is running unopposed in Congressional District 25.
