Nearly forgotten treasures — a vintage bottle of Haig & Haig Pinch Scotch, a cigar received after the Cuban Missile Crisis, baby clothes and more — linked to President John F. Kennedy are up for sale in an online auction.

Goldin Auctions is selling a collection of these and other items belonging to the 35th president, his wife, Jacqueline, and his assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, through May 7.

Memorabilia on the auction block includes dishes, clothes, baby gifts, even items from one of the country’s darkest days, Nov. 22, 1963, when Kennedy, after spending the night in Fort Worth, was shot and killed in Dallas.

These items, many of which have a minimum bid, were privately owned before they were consigned to the New Jersey-based auctioneer, said Doug Drotman, a spokesman with Goldin Auctions.

History lovers may be interested in a piece of the fence from the grassy knoll in Dealey Plaza that is up for sale, with a minimum bid of $1,500.

Or they may want a piece of the plexi-glass from the president’s Lincoln bubbletop limo that will be sold for no less than $500.

There’s also a group of 18 photos that were used by Dr. John K. Lattimer to prove the “single bullet theory.” The minimum bid on these pictures is $600.

But there’s much more for sale: signed photos of the president, a White House Christmas card signed by the president and first lady, desert and salad plates made by Limoges, even baby gifts given to the family in 1960 for John F. Kennedy Jr.

At the same time, “the first lady is represented in the auction with two separate lots of designer shoes and a Christian Dior satin clutch,” according to a statement from Goldin Auctions.

None of the treasures will come cheap.

The black satin clutch has a minimum bid of $4,000; two pair of designer shoes owned and worn by the former first lady have minimum bids of $3,000 each.

A collection of 12 White House-related receipts belonging to Jacqueline Kennedy are also up for sale, but not for less than $200. A Nikon camera she owned is also on the block with a minimum bid of $1,500.

Some unique items belonging to Oswald, who is buried at Fort Worth’s Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery, also are being sold.

His 8x10 mug shot can be bought for at least $300; an annotated 1963 pay stub of his will sell for at least $1,500. And anyone who wants a letter he wrote by hand to his mother will have to pay at least $3,000.

The auctioneers say “three of the most unique items in this auction” belong to Oswald: The gray two-piece suit he wore at his wedding; his blue wool overcoat bought while he was still in the Marine Corps; and his 28-piece chess set.

Also being sold is a pair of black trousers owned by Oswald’s killer, Jack Ruby. The minimum bid on these pants is $1,000.

Rare treasures?

The most unusual items in the sale, though, belonged to the president.

The bottle of scotch he owned — that was left unopened — won’t sell for less than $3,500. It was an inaugural gift given to the president after he won the 1960 presidential election. The bottle is in the original Christmas box.

And there’s the cigar given to Kennedy after the Cuban Missile Crisis, that rests in a frame with a photo of the president. That won’t sell for less than $1,000. The framed cigar was a gift from Amelito R. Mutuc, the Philippines ambassador. The cigar, 5.25 inches long, is still in the original gold wrapper that reads “Specially Made For President Kennedy.”

To see the items, go online to www.goldinauctions.com and search for the John F Kennedy Collection.

Absentee bids are already being accepted. Live bidding starts at 7 p.m. Eastern time April 30.
