Iranian demonstration planned outside conservative conference in Grapevine
A rally protesting Iran’s current leadership is planned for Thursday, March 26 outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Grapevine.
The demonstrators will be at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center entrance all day and plan to form a human chain from 5 to 7 p.m., according to a flyer distributed by IranzVoiceDFW. At 9:20 a.m. Thursday, no protestors were present at the entrance.
The rally is in support of the former crown prince of the Pahlavi dynasty of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, who is set to speak at the conference. A CPAC spokesperson said the conference is not affiliated with the demonstration, though CPAC’s website states the conference proudly backs Pahlavi.
Pahlavi is the son of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who was dethroned in the 1979 Islamic Revolution. As a result of the revolution, the Iranian monarchy was abolished and replaced with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which President Donald Trump is aiming to oust with the war.
