‘Obscene’ image glued to Tarrant GOP office door in early June: police report
The office of the Tarrant County Republican Party was vandalized in June, according to a police report filed by party leadership.
A police spokesperson said officers were dispatched to the party’s office at 201 N. Rupert St. in Fort Worth on June 10 in response to a report that someone glued a sheet of paper that was “obscene in nature” to the office door.
The spokesperson said the sheet contained a screenshot of a post on X by Tarrant County GOP Chair Bo French from June 9 in which he referenced the protests of ICE in Los Angeles that had started a few days earlier by saying, “A few well placed snipers would end violent protests in two seconds.”
Text above the screenshot read: “Read the First Amendment, you fascist [expletive].”
French and Executive Director Dayton Wright were the ones who contacted police about the incident, according to the report, which states that a glass door and a sign were affected.
The damage to the glass door of the office was reported to be valued at $5,000 and the damage to the sign was valued at $200. The filers of the report said the door needed to be replaced due to the adhesive used to affix the paper, the police spokesperson said.
The call was made at noon, while the incident was reported as occurring between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The nature of the call was listed as “criminal mischief.”
A party staffer at the office referred the Star-Telegram to French, 55, of Westover Hills, for comment. He and Wright, 25, of Fort Worth, did not respond to emails and calls.
The victim of the incident listed on the report was Robert Woodson Lydick of Aledo.
A LinkedIn profile belonging to a man named Rob Lydick states that he is the co-founder of a waste management company named Canalytics Technology, which also has an office in the building.
Lydick, 56, did not immediately respond to emails, voicemails and a request to connect on LinkedIn.
The Star-Telegram also reached out to several precinct chairs from both the Republican and Democratic parties, but none said they had heard anything about the incident.
