The Tarrant Regional Water District board voted unanimously to approve its 2024 budget with a slightly lower tax rate.

Tarrant County property owners will pay 2.67 cents per $100 of value in 2024 down from 2.69 cents per $100 of value in this most recent year’s tax bill.

A home valued at $350,000 with a homestead exemption will pay $93.45 to the district in 2024. Most property owners are likely to pay more because of increased values.

The average property owner will see a $10 increase in their tax bill, however, this represents roughly 1% of the overall tax bill, board member James Hill said at Tuesday’s board meeting.

This money goes to fund flood control and maintain the levee system along the Trinity River, Hill said. The district also gets revenue selling raw water to cities like Fort Worth, which is used to maintain reservoirs and protect the region’s water supply.
