Tarrant taxpayers now have an automated online option to protest property values
Tarrant County taxpayers now have an automated online option to protest their property values.
The agency on Tuesday launched an “Automated Market Value Negotiation Tool,” which allows property owners to negotiate their value appraisals at TAD.org. The tool includes neighborhood sales data.
Taxpayers will find the negotiation tool on a green button at the top of their account page. There, they may enter a value for their property and receive a settlement offer within seconds.
People have struggled with the revamped website since property notices went out in April. The site has been plagued by pages locking up and timing out. Until Tuesday, it also lacked the automated option to protest, as required by state statute.
Because the site lacked an automated option to protest, TAD extended the protest deadline to May 30. That decision came a day after Keller Mayor Armin Mizani urged Chief Appraiser Jeff Law to fix the technological failures and extend the deadline.
“We are excited to launch our new online market value negotiation tool, which will provide property owners with more knowledge regarding their 2023 tax appraisals,” Law said in a statement. “Our new online tool is designed to provide greater transparency, accuracy, and convenience, enabling property owners to make informed decisions based on valid data.”
