The Tarrant Appraisal District board will meet to discuss board vacancy
The Tarrant Appraisal District board of directors has scheduled a special meeting Friday to discuss a vacancy on the board.
The notice follows board chair Kathryn Wilemon’s resignation, which was tendered last week after Keller City Council voted to recall her the day before.
According to the agenda the board will discuss “matters related to vacancy on the board of directors” and could take action to notify taxing units of the vacancy.
The process of filling an appraisal board vacancy differs based on whether the member resigned or was recalled.
When a board member is recalled, their recall is put to a vote by the taxing units that voted for the member. Those entities then vote for a replacement to finish the term. When a board member resigns, all county taxing entities will nominate people to fill the seat until the end of the year, but the TAD board will ultimately select the replacement.
Wilemon was elected to the board in 2019. Her term is set to expire at the end of this year. Before joining the TAD board, Wilemon represented District 4 on the Arlington City Council from 2003 to 2019.
Wilemon’s resignation follow several high-profile controversies that left the public calling for transparency from the agency.
The meeting will take place at 1 p.m. at TAD’s office, at 2500 Handley-Ederville Road.
