This potential presidential candidate is visiting North Texas. Hint: He’s a GOP governor
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — an often-mentioned contender for president in 2024 — is visiting North Texas in March for a Dallas County GOP fundraising dinner.
DeSantis hasn’t announced whether he’ll seek the presidency in 2024, challenging already-announced former President Donald Trump for the title of Republican nominee, but he’s become a well-known name in the party in recent years.
He’s scheduled to speak at the Dallas County Republican Party’s Reagan Day Dinner on March 4 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. On March 3, he’ll be in Houston for the Harris County Republican Party’s Lincoln Reagan Day Dinner.
“I think a lot of people are excited about what he did in Florida in this last election cycle ... maybe taking it out of the swing category and actually making it a red state,” said Dallas County Chairwoman Jennifer Stoddard-Hajdu. “So, we thought he would be a great fit for Texas because we want to make sure we keep Texas in that red column as well.”
tickets for the Dallas GOP event cost between $500 and $3,000. A sponsorship, which includes a table with 10 seats, costs between $10,000 and $50,000.
Trump announced he’d again run for president in mid-November. President Joe Biden hasn’t said if he’ll run for reelection in 2024.
