White Settlement’s longtime mayor Ronald White died Tuesday after serving nearly a decade in office.

He was 79 years old.

White first took office in 2014 and was in the middle of his third term, according to a post on the city’s Facebook page announcing his death.

White was a longtime community leader and advocate for advancing the city of White Settlement, according to the Facebook post.

“His presence around the community and City Hall will be greatly missed,” the post said.

He loved being around people and loved serving people, said Mayor Pro Tem Amber Munoz. She also described White as a big Santa given his large white beard.

Though the family has not made formal arrangements, the city directed residents and well wishers to send condolences to Greenwood Funeral Home.
