The Tarrant County Republican Party chair has denounced a mailer that implies the party had recommended candidates in Tuesday’s primary.

County GOP chair Rick Barnes, when reached by the Star-Telegram Friday evening, said the party doesn’t endorse candidates in primary elections. Barnes said he was contacted about the mailer by Aaron Harris, a Republican political consultant with LMK Strategies.

The mailer was sent by Protect & Serve PAC, run by Murphy Nasica & Associates. It has “Tarrant County Republican Party” written across the top as a header and “Pro-Police Candidate Recommendations” written directly underneath. It includes Gov. Greg Abbott, criminal district attorney candidate Mollee Westfall, 371st District Judge candidate Ryan Hill and county commissioners Precinct 4 candidate Manny Ramirez, among others.

Representatives from Murphy-Nasica weren’t immediately available for comment late Friday.
