Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson will not seek another term, she wrote in a statement early Tuesday.

Wilson has been in her position since 2015.

Wilson wrote that she was grateful for the people she worked with and respected the people who represented the accused.

“I will forever remember and be humbled by the victims we assisted and their loved ones,” she wrote.

During her time in office, Wilson founded a Conviction Integrity Unit — one of 17 in the nation at the time — enhanced her office’s Special Victims Unit and created an Intimate Partner Violence Team, among other enhancements.

“To the citizens of Tarrant County, your trust has never been taken for granted and it has been my deepest honor to serve you,” she wrote.

A spokesperson for the DA’s office wasn’t immediately available for comment early Tuesday.
