Tarrant County commissioners will vote Tuesday on whether to hire a new chief medical examiner.

The finalist, Kendall Crowns has spent 12 years in Travis County, where he has served as deputy chief medical examiner since July 2018. Crowns would replace Nizam Peerwani, who is retiring after 42 years.

Crowns will start his position Dec. 6, according to agenda documents.

Crowns did not immediately return a phone call to his office in Travis County for comment Monday.

County officials did not immediately answer questions on the interview process.
