Fort Worth doctors perform heart procedure on Texas Agriculture Commissioner
Physicians on Tuesday performed a cardiac catheterization on Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller at a Fort Worth hospital, his department said.
Miller experienced shortness of breath and chest discomfort on Friday evening and was admitted on Saturday at Texas Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. Cardiologists inserted a stent into his left anterior descending artery to eliminate a blockage, the Texas Department of Agriculture said.
Miller is expected to be released from the hospital this week and will recuperate at his home, the department said. He expects to return to his normal schedule and routine after a brief recovery. Miller lives in Stephenville.
Miller, 66, said in December that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
“I can now add heart surgery to my list of medical mishaps and challenges which include numerous rodeo injuries, broken bones, hip, double knee replacement, shoulder surgery, West Nile virus, Covid and cancer. I guess that list just makes me Texas tough,” Miller wrote in a statement.
