President Joe Biden to visit Houston after Texas winter storm

President Joe Biden is headed to Houston Friday following last week’s winter storm that left millions across the state without power.

He’ll be joined by First Lady Jill Biden during his first trip to the state as president. Biden will meet with local leaders to discuss storm relief efforts, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said. He will also visit a COVID-19 vaccine distribution site.

Last week Biden showed interest in visiting the state, but held off on announcing anything definitive.

“What I don’t want to be is a burden,” Biden said Friday, fielding questions from reporters at Virtual Munich Security Conference. “When the President lands in any city in America, it creates — there’s a — it has a long tail. And they’re working like the devil to take care of their folks. “

Further details about Biden’s trip were not immediately available.
