Fort Worth singer Leon Bridges to perform at Democratic National Convention

Fort Worth-based singer Leon Bridges will perform Monday night on the online videocast of the Democratic National Convention.

Bridges will perform in the night’s first segment, after the invocation and welcome by U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore of Wisconsin.

The segment is titled “We the People Demanding Racial Justice.”

Bridges follows the introduction by emcee Eva Longoria, also a Texan, and remarks by Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser.

After Bridges performs, presidential nominee Joe Biden of Delaware will discuss racial justice with a panel including Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.

Maggie Rogers and a duo of Billy Porter and Steven Stills will perform later in the night, part of an entertainment lineup to hold delegates’ attention and drew viewers.

Other performers later in the convention will include Texas’ The Chicks along with Common, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend and Prince Royce.

Performers at national conventions often make another appearance at the inauguration in January if that party’s candidate is elected.
