Trump will discuss economic, health and justice disparities during Dallas roundtable
President Donald Trump will be in Dallas on Thursday, not only for a private fundraiser but also to announce a plan for “holistic revitalization and recovery.”
One day after George Floyd’s funeral in Houston, a senior White House official announced Wednesday that Trump will meet with “faith leaders, law enforcement officials and small business owners to discuss solutions to historic economic, health and justice disparities in American communities.”
Trump’s gathering will be a roundtable at a Dallas church, but the site and attendance list have not yet been released by the White House.
The president met Monday with law enforcers including the president of the Fraternal Order of Police and the head of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Floyd’s death in the custody of Minneapolis police after an officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes has sparked protests against police brutality and racism across the country.
Trump already had planned to be in Dallas on Thursday for a fundraiser that will be attended by about 25 people.
Each person attending the event at a private home will have to test negative for coronavirus, pass a temperature screening and complete a wellness questionnaire on the day of the event. The cost is $580,000 per couple and covers two meals and a photo with the president, according to the invitation.
The Trump Victory campaign will cover the cost of the COVID-19 tests.
