Watch as a moose chases a man up a tree in Canada and waits for him to come back down
A moose chased a man up a tree in Canada, and the man filmed the whole thing from the safety of the limbs.
Dave Meredith of Alberta posted three clips he filmed of the encounter to his Facebook page Tuesday, Jan. 3, with the simple caption “bull moose attack.”
The first clip starts out showing the moose staring up at Meredith from the ground.
“He just ran me up a tree,” Meredith narrates in the clip. The moose appears frustrated and starts raking his antlers along tree limbs. “Whacha doin’ now, bud?” Meredith asks the moose.
In the next clip, the moose starts charging back and forth and grunting beneath the tree, as if he’s beckoning Meredith to come down and face him. Meredith grunts right back down at him.
In the third clip, the moose is snorting, pawing and charging up to the base of the tree to get as close to Meredith as he can. Meredith shouts down at the moose to “Get!” and eventually he charges off around the lake.
“That’s what I thought,” Meredith says before climbing down from the tree.
The whole thing lasted 10 or 15 minutes, Meredith told RD News Now.
“He was using his antlers in roughing the trees and grunting and pawing at the snow; showing off basically,” Meredith told the outlet. “It was pretty incredible to tell you the truth.”
Meredith was out for his nightly stroll when he spotted the moose and hid behind the tree to get a better look, CTV News reported.
But then the moose spotted him and charged, so Meredith scrambled up the tree, the station reported.
“He was grunting and had, uh, every intention to trample me by the looks of things,” Meredith told the station. “It was quite intimidating. The photos don’t do it justice how close it felt.”
