Every dog got adopted at event — except for one heartbroken pup. ‘No one stopped’

A pup with a sparkling personality was left shattered after she was the only one left at an adoption event in Illinois.

Cordelia is the perfect companion — she’s considered a social butterfly, loves playtime and people and long pets, the Anti Cruelty shelter in Chicago says. But that wasn’t enough to draw potential owners to her kennel at an adoption event.

“Super Adoption Saturday was full of wagging tails and happy endings. One by one, every AC pup found their family,” the shelter said in a Sept. 29 Facebook post. “Except Cordelia.”

How did this happen?

“She’s a loyal and sweet companion who wants nothing more than to be around the people she loves ... which seems to be everyone!” her pet profile says.

Sure, she might have allergies, but the shelter has her on medication to treat them. She may have issues with her back legs and could potentially develop arthritis in the future.

“She watched each kennel empty. She wagged at every passerby. But no one stopped. No one chose her,” the shelter said. “When the lights went down and the crowds disappeared, she was still there — alone, waiting.”

Cordelia, who’s estimated to be 3 years old, lets nothing slow her down and exploring outside is at the top of her list of loves, if only given the chance.

“Cordelia’s ready to love. She just needs someone to love her back,” the shelter said.
