Dad shoots three of his kids as their mom fights to stop him, Michigan cops say
A father is accused of shooting three of his kids, killing one of them, at a Michigan home, police said.
Officers responded to the scene in north Port Huron at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, after receiving “multiple 911 calls … that individuals had been shot,” police said in a news release.
At the home, police found three children with gunshot wounds, ages 12, 13 and 17, then arrested the 44-year-old father of the kids.
The children were taken to a hospital for treatment, and while two are reported to be in critical but stable condition, the 17-year-old was pronounced dead, police said.
Officials didn’t say what may have motivated the shooting, but described the situation as “a domestic-related incident.”
The mother of the children and a 20-year-old male sibling were at the home and wrestled with the father, forcing him to stop, police told WDIV and WJBK.
Following his arrest, the dad spoke to investigators about what happened, police said, adding “we will be seeking criminal charges against (him).”
Port Huron is a roughly 60-mile drive northeast from Detroit.
