A man pointed a rifle at his ex-girlfriend as her infant son was in a nearby bedroom, Pennsylvania police said.

Adam Makowka, 27, shot her multiple times, killing her July 22 in front of her 3-month-old son, according to Allentown police and WFMZ.

Another man in the home then grabbed the barrel of the rifle until Makowka ran out of ammunition, police said in a criminal complaint.

The ex-boyfriend fled the apartment through the front door, the complaint said.

Police found several firearms in the apartment in addition to a rifle and gray hoodie outside near the roof access door where Makowka entered the apartment, the complaint said.

Makowka was arrested approximately 60 miles away in Lansdowne, police said.

He was charged with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide and two counts of aggravated assault, according to court documents. His attorney information was not listed.

Makowka is scheduled to appear in court July 29.

Allentown is about a 60-mile drive northwest from Philadelphia.
