Police in Illinois are investigating after they say a woman drowned a 1-year-old boy in Lake Michigan.

Chicago police were called to Lake Michigan around 9:45 p.m. July 18 and found a 31-year-old woman in the water, WLS reported.

The woman is accused of drowning a 1-year-old boy in the lake, according to WFLD.

The Chicago Fire Department Marine Unit found the boy and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, WLS reported.

The boy’s death is being classified as a homicide, according to WFLD.

“The more I heard, the more tragic it got, the sadder it got,” Street Pastor Donovan Price told WGNT.

The boy’s identity was not released, and the outlet reported that police have not announced charges.
