4-year-old accidentally shoots mom with gun he got from sleeping dad, WA cops say
A 4-year-old got ahold of a loaded gun and shot his mother in the arm by accident, deputies in Washington said.
The mom was taken to a hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said in a July 15 post on Facebook.
“During the investigation, deputies learned that the child had retrieved the firearm from his father, who was asleep on the couch at the time. Multiple unsecured firearms were observed throughout the residence,” deputies said.
The boy’s father was arrested on suspicion of unlawful storage of a firearm and reckless endangerment, deputies said. The sheriff’s office didn’t release the 44-year-old man’s name.
The boy sustained minor injuries in the incident, deputies said.
The shooting happened in Lynnwood, according to deputies.
After the shooting, the two kids living at the home were released to relatives, deputies said.
Lynnwood is about a 20-mile drive north from Seattle.
