Two hand grenades — including one that was live were found hours apart from each other near homes in Connecticut, police said.

Officers responded to the first grenade just before 10:30 a.m. June 30, the Norwalk Department of Police Services said in a July 1 news release.

A few hours later, at 3:30 p.m., another grenade was found in the backyard of a home about two miles from the first, police said.

The first device was found on the side of the road by a resident, according to police, who said it was inert.

The second, however, was live, police said. It was safely removed by the Stamford Police Department Bomb Squad, and no one was injured, police said.

It’s unknown where the grenades came from, and no other devices were found during a search of the area, according to police.

Norwalk is about a 50-mile drive northeast from New York City.
