An Oklahoma fire department is celebrating a win after rescuing a helpless animal that found itself in a dangerous — and unsanitary — situation.

The Owasso Fire Department in Collinsville posted a photo on its Facebook page of one of its firefighters holding a very wet baby deer.

“UNUSUAL RESCUE ALERT,” the department said in the June 15 post. “Today’s shift included a surprise guest at the wastewater treatment plant!”

Not a very clean place to end up, especially considering the emojis the department used. The deer fell into the tank and the fire crew arrived on the scene to fish out the baby.

“Our crews were on scene to rescue this slippery little guy from the tank. Don’t worry … he’s safe, soggy, and headed back to dry land,” the department said.

Collinsville is about a 130-mile drive northeast from Oklahoma City.
