A 64-year-old woman called 911 to report her son beat her and his 77-year-old father, Hawaii police said.

The parents were taken to a hospital with serious injuries following the call just after 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in Waikiki, the Honolulu Police Department said in a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The woman told police their son beat them with a “blunt-type object,” police said.

Officers provided a description of the man who was last seen fleeing toward a shopping center, police said.

At 6:40 p.m., patrol officers arrested the 29-year-old son on charges of attempted murder, police said.

Waikiki and Honolulu are on the island of Oahu.
