A roadkill found in Minnesota wasn’t the typical deer or raccoon that local drivers may be accustomed to seeing, but rather a massive snake not known to inhabit the area.

“We don’t run into too many boa constrictors here in Minnesota so this is a first for Big Lake PD,” the department said in a May 25 post on Facebook.

Officer William Saliterman was seen in the photo holding the slithery creature, which appeared to be at least 6 or 7 feet long. Boa constrictors can reach up to 13 feet as adults.

The Big Lake Police Department said the snake likely escaped from a family home before being struck and killed by a car.

Others were thankful they didn’t see the snake for themselves.

“Nope nope nope. I’m moving to the north pole and be an elf,” one Facebook commenter said.

“Imagine their insurance trying to believe this one,” another commenter said.

“If I start finding boas in Minnesota I will not leave my house unarmed,” said another.

Big Lake is about a 40-mile drive northwest from Minneapolis.
