“It feels great to win!” a lucky Powerball player, who scored a huge prize in Virginia, told lottery officials.

Dennis O’Donnell matched four of five winning numbers and the Powerball in the April 14 drawing to win $50,000, which was then tripled to $150,000 with Power Play, the Virginia Lottery said in a May 15 news release.

“I kind of didn’t believe it at first! I checked it two or three times!” he told lottery officials.

He purchased his lucky ticket at a Walmart in Wytheville, about a 115-mile drive northwest from Greensboro, North Carolina, lottery officials said.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 3, 20, 30, 52, 62 and the Powerball number was 1, the lottery said.

O’Donnell said he plans to use the winnings to take care of his family, according to the lottery.

A person from New York won a $2 million prize using Power Play in the April 14 drawing, according to the game’s national webpage. No one won the jackpot of $101 million.

The estimated jackpot as of May 15 is $123 million, and the next drawing is May 17, according to lottery officials.

What to know about Powerball

To score a jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
